Ofcom 'won't be rushed'

I know Salvatore posted on the topic of Murdoch previously, although interesting to see the topic again in the BBC and the pressure being applied by Labour and the Lib Dems and that Ofcom will not be rushed

In a view perhaps appropriate for a regulator, the review will take "as long as it takes".

I am curious to see how this one turns out.

This is a tricky one. On the one hand, yes, a review should not be hurried. On the other, the review is impeding a commercial transaction, and the regulator should thus act swiftly and efficiently. Whilst the complexity of the situation may be such that it demands particular scrutiny, and thus takes time, I'm fearful of a regulator which considers that it has all the time in the world to act, and might behave without concern to commercial pressures.
